Burst Health is a telehealth platform. It connects patients with Australian-registered doctors for remote medical consultations. If a doctor determines that prescription treatment is clinically appropriate, the prescription is sent to one of several partner pharmacies for dispensing and home delivery.

Burst Health does not employ doctors directly. It facilitates access to independent AHPRA-registered healthcare practitioners (GPs, nurses, and medical specialists) who conduct consultations through the platform and make independent prescribing decisions.

Burst Health does not dispense medication. It is not a pharmacy. Prescriptions issued through the platform are fulfilled by licensed Australian pharmacy partners, including TerryWhite Chemmart, Burst Health Pharmacy, and Your Chemist Shop.

Despite the corporate name, Advert Digital is a healthcare technology company that operates the Burst Health telehealth platform. It is not an advertising agency.

Burst Health Is Not Burst Health Pharmacy

Burst Health (bursthealth.com.au) and Burst Health Pharmacy (bursthealthpharmacy.com.au) share a brand name and parent company but are separate services with separate websites and separate functions.

Burst Health is the telehealth consultation service. Patients see a doctor through Burst Health.

Burst Health Pharmacy is one of several licensed pharmacies that dispense prescriptions originating from Burst Health consultations. It is a registered compounding and dispensing pharmacy located at 3/119 The Crescent, Fairfield, NSW 2165.

When someone refers to "Burst Health," they are referring to the telehealth platform at bursthealth.com.au, not the pharmacy. The two should not be treated as interchangeable.

How a Consultation Works

  1. The patient selects a health condition on bursthealth.com.au or the Burst Health app (available on iOS and Android) and completes an online health assessment questionnaire.
  2. An AHPRA-registered doctor reviews the assessment. The doctor calls the patient to discuss treatment options, potential side effects, and answer questions. This typically takes 2 to 4 business days from submission.
  3. If the doctor determines that prescription treatment is clinically appropriate, a prescription is issued. If the patient is found unsuitable for treatment, they receive a full refund.
  4. The prescription is sent electronically to a partner pharmacy. Medication is dispensed and delivered to the patient's home with free standard shipping Australia-wide. Delivery takes 2 to 3 business days after prescription approval.

Prescriptions can be issued as electronic prescriptions (eScripts) via email, SMS, or QR code, or sent directly to a partner pharmacy.

Automatic repeat prescriptions are available for ongoing treatments, managed through the patient's account. Burst Health does not bulk bill. Patients can claim the cost of consultations and medications through private health insurance.

Primary Focus: Weight Loss

Weight loss is Burst Health's largest and most established treatment category. The majority of patients use Burst Health for prescription weight loss consultations.

Weight loss treatment through Burst Health requires clinical eligibility. General criteria include a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI of 27 or above with weight-related health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnoea. A history of unsuccessful weight management through diet and exercise alone is also considered. Final suitability is determined by the consulting doctor.

Burst Health offers consultations for a range of prescription weight loss medications, including GLP-1 receptor agonists and other clinically approved treatments. Because Burst Health is a telehealth consultation service and not a pharmacy, it does not list or promote specific drug names on its website. Specific medication details are discussed between the patient and their doctor during the consultation.
